Abstract

»Point of Reference« and »Glass House«: Results of Empirical Studies on the Public Perception of the Protestant Parsonage. The assessment of a number of group discussions reveals that the parsonage still is seen as a symbolic space - as part of the ensemble together with church and parish hall. For purposes of reaching the pastor the use of telephone and email, however, has become part of the normal routine. The pastor's family is no longer the object of public interest, the pastors themselves, however, are seen both as public figures following a conviction as well as humans who also need a private life and private space.
