Abstract

A new bacterial leaf spot, caused by Xanthomonas campestris pv. fici, is reported for the first time in Australia; it causes angular leaf spot and leaf drop on ornamental Ficus spp. in Darwin. Symptoms appear on leaves as brown angular interveinal lesions of various sizes. Leaf drop occurs on severely affected plants and subsequent new growth becomes infected.
