Abstract

The angular distribution of fragments from neutron-induced fission of 238U in the neutron energy range 1 MeV ⩽ E n ⩽ 18 MeV has been measured by means of Lexan ‡ polycarbonate plastic and mica detectors. The angular anisotropy in this energetic region, where (n,f), (n,n′f) and (n,2n′f) reactions are possible, has been analysed. Larger variations are found in the anisotropy of fission fragments at neutron energies immediately above the respective fission thresholds.
