Abstract

The spectral angular distributions for charged particles of a monoenergetic beam after multiple scattering in matter is described analytically for the first time on the basis of the previously obtained solution to the transport equation. A new universal function of the two-dimensional angular distribution for charged particles is obtained in the case of normal beam incidence on the sample surface; new formulas are also obtained to calculate the most probable deviation angle for particles that passed through a substance film with a given thickness. The influence of the target surface on the recorded spectra of particles escaping from the film is taken into account. The results of thorough verification of the obtained relations via the comparison of model calculations of the angular distributions with experimental spectra of electrons and protons taken from scientific publications are given.
