Abstract

In this paper we present experimental results on the variation of the second-harmonic signals from adsorbed molecular monolayers with angle of incidence. The obtained data for different polarization directions are in good agreement with theoretical expressions given in literature. In addition, we show that for specific polarization directions of excitation and detection beams the angle-of-incidence dependence of the second-harmonic signal is a sensitive function of molecular orientation.
