Abstract

Since Anglo-Irish Literature has only emerged as a separate literature in the Twentieth Century, it does not have as many bibliographical and reference books, or general literary histories as more established literatures. The article examines such work at a time when they are at an embryonic stage. It is divided into five sections : (1) Bibliographies (2) General Histories (3) Period Histories : the Nineteenth Century (4) Period Histories : the Irish Literary Revival and (5) Period Histories : Post-Revolutionary Ireland. Under each heading the article describes and evaluates the more important, relevant works.
