Abstract

Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) is a powerful tool to directly probe the electronic structure of materials, which has been broadly used in the research of condensed matter physics. In this chapter, a general description of the ARPES technique will be given. In particular, it will explain how the energy and momentum of the electrons are resolved and what physical quantities are deduced from the ARPES spectra.
