Abstract
We have made an experimental and theoretical investigation of the Shockley-type surface states on Cu Pd(111) random substitutional alloys. We have studied the emission intensity and dispersion as a function of emission angle, photon incidence angle and photon energy. In general, our observations are consistent with first principles calculations of the photocurrent (based on the KKRCPA). The results confirm that the E F-“L 2'” gap and the [111] neck radius on the Fermi surface both decrease as Pd is added to Cu.
