Abstract

Angle-domain common image gathers (ADCIGs), which are vital for applications and analysis of AVA technology, have been widely applied to the target imaging and inversion. However, angle gathers based on the conventional conversion method and the straight-ray PSTM method fail to satisfy AVA analysis and inversion of complex areas. So we present double square root (DSR) operator true amplitude wave equation pre-stack depth migration method to extract ADCIGs. After obtaining offset domain common image gathers (ODCIGs) by double square root (DSR) operator true amplitude wave equation pre-stack depth migration, we can do a radial-trace transform for ODCIGs in the Fourier domain to gain ADCIGs. We compare our method with the conventional conversion method and the straight-ray PSTM method, and analyze the effectiveness of the proposed method and its AVA properties. Theoretical analysis and numerical experiments show that ADCIGs by our method have comparatively large angle range and true amplitude. So ADCIGs are more suitable for AVA analysis and inversion.
