Abstract

A charged-particle detector system is described which uses a sonic spark chamber to determine the angle of scattering of the particles within a large solid angle without loss of angular resolution. The selection, design and testing of the components of the detector system are discussed, and an account given of the performance of the complete system including the electronic logic. The limitations of the detector are considered and examples given of its applications.
