Abstract

Eighteen patients with upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage from erosive gastritis or stress ulcers were studied by selective visceral arteriography. Thirteen patients had positive results on arteriography. Vasopressin (Pituitrin) was administered intra-arterially to six patients. Bleeding was controlled completely in four patients and partially in one patient. There was no control in one patient in whom the left gastric artery was not selectively infused.
