Abstract

This is the first report of an angiographic stain and other flow abnormalities caused by seizures. The patient is a 43 year old postpartum female. Carotid angiography was done during the thirteenth hour of status epilepticus and showed marked vasodilatation, an abnormal venous flow pattern, and a parietal gyral stain. The seizures stopped after about 20 h of continuous activity and did not return. An angiogram 8 days later was normal. Comparison filsm from the two studies are presented. The patient was normal neurologically at discharge and remains well.
