Abstract

Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) can assist in selecting embryos for implantation, however genetic testing in the preimplantation period does not preclude the need to offer prenatal genetic screening and invasive diagnostic testing. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends all patients be offered prenatal genetic screening and diagnostic testing, including screening for aneuploidy, regardless of PGT status. With the recent rise in the utilization of in vitro fertilization and PGT, general obstetric practitioners may be less familiar with current guidelines for aneuploidy screening in this growing patient population.
