Abstract
(Anesth Analg. 2018;126:2056–2064) In low- and middle-income countries like Zimbabwe, cesarean delivery (CD) is the most common surgical procedure, and as such, can indicate overall surgical activity in a health care system. Recent studies have shown the highest risk of anesthesia-related maternal death occurring in sub-Saharan Africa. Using a questionnaire, the authors of the present study assessed the type of anesthesia used for CD, level of training of anesthesia providers, and availability of resources in provincial, district, and mission hospitals in Zimbabwe.
