Abstract

In the modem era, people tend to be motivated to create something new in order to facilitate human affairs, and to prevent undesirable situations, e.g., scattered waste due to improper waste management in particular areas. Therefore, the trash system using a wireless smart tool that serves to assist outdoor garbage collectors, especially to facilitate their duties in managing the garbage in their environment. Android-based Smart Trash Monitoring Prototype Application is developed as a solution to prevent scattered garbage generated from misplaced garbage piles up. The other advantage is to help the cleaning service in monitoring the condition of trash whether it is full or empty through Android Smartphone. This application consists of several components, namely the Arduino Uno or ATmega328 microcontroller, HC-SR04 sensor, and ESP-8266 Wi-Fi module, which will be the tool to detect the distance between the sensor and object (garbage). Furthermore, the distance will be sent to the database server via ESP-8266 Wi-Fi module and access points. All values will be sent to the database, which defines the conditions of garbage capacity as the alerts for garbage collectors via telegram messenger. The purpose of notification is to inform garbage collector when the trash is full hence should be removed immediately. The design of the working methods of this prototype is started from the analysis until the tool can already be used or not. Therefore, the design of a prototype of this tool requires observation to determine the value of the data for the smart trash tool.
