Abstract
To the Editor.— The following is excerpted from the minutes of a staff meeting at the Central Michigan Community Hospital: Several members of the staff expressed their views in a pointed fashion as regards the unremitting spread of bureaucratic interference with the practice of medicine. These remarks seemed to imply that one could draw certain analogies between bureaucrats and an organism known officially as Sarcoptes scabei . A. Both tend to be associated with mental, physical, and moral decadence. B. Both abound where long hair and poor personal hygiene are prevalent. C. Both tend to get under the skin. D. Both have amazing powers of proliferation. E. The modus operandi is similar, consisting of infiltration, occupation, and procreation. F.
