Abstract

In March 2010, while carrying out some research at the archives of the Portuguese Foreign Ministry, we came across, by sheer chance, with a few letters pertaining incidents from 1911. These documents, we believe, may be relevant to further studies on the industrial relationships between English employers and the Portuguese labour force in the cork trade soon after the Republican revolution (1910).
