Abstract

Lakshmi P. N., Kolhe N. P. and Johri G. N. 1982. Ancylostoma caninum: transfer of lymphoid cells from thymus and bone marrow and adoptive immunity in mice. International journal for Parasitology 12: 227–231. In an attempt to transfer immunity to Ancylostoma caninum larvae in mice using cells from thymus and bone marrow of donors infected for 21 days, it was found that recipients were able to expel and/or destroy larvae from a challenge infection more effectively than those injected with similar cells from uninfected donors. It is proposed that this may be due to extracellular factors operating in the host as there was no evidence that this effect was due to cell mediated immunity.
