Abstract
The article examines the connection between ancient poetics and texts of the ukrainian sacred songs of the XVII–XVIII centuries. Ancient images and symbols were discovered, which empha-sizes the education of the creators of the genre of sacred songs. Ancient literature was the basis of the education in Brotherhood schools and Academies in Ukraine of the XVI–XVIII centuries. The lexical dictionary of the ancient poetics y was common to all literary genres. It was an important part of the sacred monody songs of the Ukrainian Church. Therefore, the creators of the spiritual song were well versed in this material and used it in their works. This embellished spiritual texts and connected Ukrainian sacred culture to the world of baroque diversity.
