Abstract

A novel heterogeneous catalyst was developed via the immobilization of a copper complex by covalent anchoring of the ligand on the surface of magnetic nano particles. The catalyst was characterized by various techniques including Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron micrograph (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and inductively coupled plasma (ICP) spectroscopy. The prepared catalyst demonstrated high catalytic activity, stability, reproducible dispersibility, and recycability in the O-arylation reactions. Moreover, the catalyst could be easily recovered under the outside magnetic field and reused without noticeable decreasing in its catalytic performance upon five consecutive runs.
