Abstract

Knowledge of the anatomic layers of the face, their contents, and their relationship with each other is of paramount importance to perform effective midface lifting and to minimize the complications. According to Stuzin et. al. [1] the facial soft tissue is composed of skin, subcutaneous fat, the superficial musculoaponeu­rotic system (SMAS), mimetic muscle, deep facial fascia (parotid masseteric fascia), and the plane containing the facial nerve, the parotid duct, and the buccal fat pad.
