Abstract

Results of a study of the anatomic organization of aboveand underground organs of Ferula foetida (Bunge) Regel of different ages growing in Tuyesu sands on the south of Mangyshlak Peninsula are presented in the article. The results of the study demonstrated that diagnostic characteristics of Ferula foetida raw materials are the shape and the structure of epidermis cells; the presence of simple unicellular and multicellular trichomes; and the location of conductive bundles and structure of schizogenous and schizolysigenous conceptacles in a cork parenchyma of roots, leaves, leafstalk and above the conductive bundles of the stem. The accumulation of resin and gum in Ferula foetida is associated with schizogenous and schizolysigenous conceptacles. The stem and leaves of plants of different ages have similar anatomical structures on which all types of tissues are well expressed. Roots of Ferula foetida individuals of different ages differ by the amount of conductive zone elements and thickness of basic elements, such as cork parenchyma, diameter of xylem vessels, and holes of conceptacles.
