Abstract

Acute osteomyelitis in children shoud be divided into anepiphyseal type and a diaphyseal type according to the material that we obtained through following up 85 cases with acute osteomyelitis.Both of types have an obvious difference in affected age,region,clinical features,incidence of chronic osteomyelitis and residual deformities,The classification is based on whether the epiphysis was affected or not.The pathological development of two types are stated depending on the anatomical characteristics before and after maturing ration of epiphysis,It is very important that the epiphyseal csteomyelitis be early diagn osed.It can prevent severe residual deformities caused by the epiphysis being destroyed.
