Abstract

The urachus is a connection between the early fetal bladder and the allantois that typically obliterates during fetal life or in the neonatal period, leading to the formation of the median umbilical ligament. The persistence of a urachal remnant was first described in 1550 by Bartholomaeus Cabrolius. Most urachal remnants are classified into four groups: (1) patent urachus, (2) urachal diverticulum, (3) urachal cyst, and (4) urachal sinus [ [1] Begg R.C.
