Abstract

The ‘crucifer’, ‘solanaceous’ and ‘stem’ strains of T. cucumeris in South Australia were identified as belonging to AG-2 type 1, AG-3 and AG-4 respectively. A new group, AG-8, is proposed for the most common strain pathogenic to cereals, the ‘root’ strain which did not anastomose with any of groups AG-1-7. AG-2 type 1, AG-3, AG-4 and AG-8 are the only anastomosis groups yet found in agricultural soils in South Australia.
