Abstract

The selected third-order plus dead time (TOPDT) process model is converted into a second-order plus dead time (SOPDT) model in the present analysis using two different approximation techniques. The SOPDT models obtained are then converted into First Order Plus Dead Time (FOPDT) models using the same method. These FOPDT models are converted into Pure Gain Plus Dead Time (PGPDT) models. The Time Delay of the PGPDT models is now approximated using Pade's Approximation. A comparison study is performed for the selected and derived models.
