Abstract

This paper presents a study of electromagnetic shielding materials for frequency range under 1 GHz. Optimal shielding materials will be achieved taking into consideration the quality of the shielding effectiveness, the frequency range where attenuation occurs, the costs of production for achieving the shielding material and the costs for achieving the shielding itself. The new materials have the capacity to achieve both low-frequency and high frequency electromagnetic shielding, and they can be used both for individual shielding of electronic and electrical equipment, as well as for the overall shielding of certain rooms or buildings. This paper approached the assessment of the degree of attenuation for electromagnetic shielding materials, the shielding effectiveness was analyzed for two types of materials. The assessment of the degree of attenuation was first carried out using the standard methods, according to standard IEEE 299/1999 standard: “Method for measuring the effectiveness of electromagnetic shielding enclosures” and standard SR EN 50147-1/1999: “Anechoic chambers Part 1: Measurement of the shield effectiveness”. In the second part measurements were carried out using a dual TEM cell (DTEM). This paper presents a study of the results obtained by the methods of measurement used.
