Abstract

During past years, power systems are continuously expanding with increasing electric power supplies and distribution systems. Accordingly, such systems might be subjected to power system instability depending on their system conditions. Therefore, we have installed Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) in Japanese universities and constructed analytical system for the power system characteristics. This paper presents a synchronizing power monitoring system of wide-area power system using phase difference between Kitakyushu and Nagoya and tie line power flow measured by Kyushu Electric Power Company. By extracting wide-area oscillation, P-δ curve corresponding to the wide-area power system can be drawn. Furthermore monitoring the synchronizing power will be utilized an index of the stability of power system. Moreover, a drawing method for simplified P-δ curve which illustrate the state of stable equilibrium point of P-δ curve has been developed. As a result, wide-area system dynamics has been analyzed using the proposed methodology actively.
