Abstract

The bending of a functionally graded annular sector plate, which is subjected to a concentrated couple applied at one edge, is investigated in this paper. According to England's plate theory, four analytical functions are set involving unknown constants. These unknown constants can be determined from boundary conditions. The obtained analytical solutions can be degenerated into those for a homogeneous transversely isotropic and homogeneous isotropic annular sector plate. A numerical example is presented to compare the proposed analytical solutions with those of a finite-element method. The results show the effect of material inhomogeneity on the elastic field. A good agreement can be observed between the analytical and FEM solutions.
