Abstract

In this paper, a novel analytical expression for the signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) of the linear multistage partial parallel interference cancellation (PIC) receiver in a UMTS multi-cell system is presented. The SIR expression derived includes the noise effect and the influence of the intra and inter-cell interferences, taking also into account the specific spreading codes of the system users. The evaluation of the analytical SIR expression obtained is very efficient thus allowing to select the optimal parameters for the multistage PIC receiver. Also it can be employed to study and develop admission control (AC) and power control (PC) algorithms
