Abstract

Advantage of microwave (MW) heating is highly concentrated heat quantity in a material, but this causes the problem called temperature runaway. The more power is provided in a heating system, the easier temperature runaway occurs. However the lesser power is provided without runaway, the more advantage of MW heating is spoiled. To avoid this problem, limit prediction of heating power is useful. A prediction procedure using wave length, temperature variation of dielectric loss, volume of a material, and heat concentration radius is described in this paper.
