Abstract

In the paper a problem of the contact between two rollers of a printing unit is undertaken. Compressing of two printing rollers is considered. One of them was made of metal while the other one consisted of a metal core and a rubber layer. The research consisted in determination of a relation between two rollers axes distance and the contact zone. To achieve the goal experiments were conducted, finite element method (FEM) of numerical simulations were performed and an engineering formula was derived. We proposed the analytical–empirical equation of the distance between the two compressed rollers loaded to their axes and the half of the contact zone width.
