Abstract

Large-scale Voltage Source Converter based High Voltage Direct Current Transmission, (VSC-HVDC) and line-commutated converter based high voltage direct current (LCC-HVDC) external power receiving-end power grids require the AC system to provide a considerable degree of voltage support capability to ensure the static voltage stability margin of the system. There is a coupling relationship between equipment and equipment, and between equipment and AC network. How to accurately quantify and evaluate the strength of the receiving-end power grid and the voltage stability margin has become an urgent problem in the power industry. Based on this, the calculation method of the VSC-HVDC and LCC-HVDC hybrid double-feed system equivalently approximated to the single-feed LCC-HVDC is summarized based on this. The defects of this method are analyzed, and a new method is proposed from the perspective of considering the external characteristics of equipment control. Quantification method of voltage support strength, and analyze and compare the difference between the two approximate calculations. Finally, a simulation example is used to compare and analyze the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed methods.
