Abstract

In this paper, some available formulations for the complete stress-strain curve for high strength concrete under uniaxial compression are examined and compared with results of deformation-controlled compression tests on high strength concrete cylinders. Based on these findings, a new analytical formulation for the complete stress-strain curve is elaborated, with emphasis on the softening branch. The new formulation is based on the curve originally introduced by Sargin and adopted in the CEB-FIP Model Code for Concrete Structures with appropriate parametric values.
