Abstract
System reliability can be modelled by a continuous time homogeneous Markov process whenever the components of such a system have constant failure and repair rates. This work presents a generalized Markovian model for a system of n-identical/nonrepairable components. The transition probability matrix and the associated set of 2 n differential equations are fully described. As an illustration, a system of four-identical/repairable components is completely analysed.
