Abstract
Ovality of elliptically distorted cylindrical fuel elements has long been observed for several fuel-element designs including Experimental Breeder Reactor II (EBR-II) driver-fuel elements. The objective of this paper is to report the derivation and application of a simple and effective technique to quantify ovality in any elliptically distorted cylindrical geometry. The technique has been applied to EBR-II blanket and driver-fuel elements with and without spacer wires, respectively. 8 refs.
