Abstract

We consider a toroidal cavity, cross-section of which represents an intersection of two circles with the same radius. Developed theoretical model allows us to obtain analytical expressions for the mode field distributions, resonant frequency, and quality factor of the cavity with allowance for the dissipation losses in the metallic walls. A relatively high Q-factor of these cavities opens new possibilities for application in various fields ranging from fundamental photonics to device engineering.
