Abstract

This paper presents analytical solutions for calculating the magnetic field in the active zone of synchronous machines with rare-earth (RE) permanent magnets (PM). The solutions were obtained by harmonic analysis of the magnetic fields in the active zones of electrical machine. In a polar coordinate system, the problem of calculating the magnetic field of a periodic system of sector rare earth PMs with a constant in direction and magnitude magnetization, located between two ferromagnetic regions with an infinitely high magnetic permeability, is solved. The obtained solution makes it possible to calculate the magnetic fields of excitation of synchronous machines with various types of RE PM both with the arrangement of magnets on the rotor and their fastening using a non-magnetic holder, and with an inverted design. The results were verified by modeling.
