Abstract

This paper presented a novel method for analytical calculation of magnetic field in surface-mounted permanent-magnet linear machine(PMLM) accounting for magnet-pole shape and slots. Equivalent surface current method, the method of mirror image, superposition principle, and conformal mapping are combined to obtain magnetic field taking into account magnet-pole shape and slots. The analytical results of flux density of PMLM are compared with finite element(FE) results. The FE results confirm that the developed analytical method is well for predicting magnetic field.
