Abstract

The eddy current braking system (ECBS) is a part that is essential for the safe operation of high-speed maglev trains. Using the sub-domain method, this paper calculated the analytical formula between the eddy current braking force and the parameters, such as speed (or super-high speed (≥600 km/h)), exciting current, air-gap length, induction plate thickness and conductivity. And the finite element simulation was used to verify the correctness of theoretical calculations. Compared with the simulation calculation, the theoretical calculation can save a lot of time and computing resources, which avoids the shortcomings of simulation calculation, such as time-consuming, failures of reflecting the mechanism of eddy current braking force and optimizing the ECBS.
