Abstract

Abstract The effects of the ammonium-crown ether or the potassium-crown ether complex on the extraction of anionic species were studied. The cobalt thiocyanate complex was extracted into 1,2-dichloroethane by the addition of a crown ether complex. By measuring the absorbance of the organic phase at 623 nm, cobalt was determined spectrophotometrically. A linear calibration curve was obtained up to 10−4 M of cobalt in the aqueous phase.
