Abstract

A novel technique for achieving very high efficiency frequency translation and RF amplification is described, termed the combined analogue locked loop universal modulator (CALLUM). Analytical, simulation and measured results for the system are presented which demonstrate the performance bounds of the CALLUM technique and demonstrate its application in portable radio designs for current and future cellular and private mobile radio networks.
