Abstract

Using a modified discrete energy bin method, we calculate equilibrium electron yield spectra produced by 50 eV to 25 keV incident electrons impacting upon H2. Analytic representations of this function and the probability of ionization simply explain the ion yield per energy loss, the approximate constancy of its reciprocal, the energy loss per ion pair, and other types of yields.
