Abstract

Excitation of a 2D Veselago lens by a filamentary electric current is considered. Behavior of the features of the kernel of the integral representation of the lens field in the focusing region is analyzed. It is shown that, as the values of the lens’s constitutive parameters tend toward -1, degeneration of the forward and backward waves, which form the oscillation of the longitudinal resonance, is observed. Approximate analytic expressions for the components of the electric field in the focusing region are derived. Estimates of the dimensions of the spot near the lens focus are obtained.
