Abstract

The modelling of laminar, fully-developed, combined convection flows of non- Newtonian fluids in a vertical parallel-plate duct, where the walls are held at asymmetric uniform temperatures is considered. For this fully-developed flow model, the momentum, continuity and energy equations are solved analytically for the Bingham Plastic rheology and for the limiting case of Power Law fluids. It is shown that different flow configurations exist depending on the buoyancy parameter, Grashof/Reynolds, which include flow reversal for both rheologies, and unsheared plug flow adjacent to the cold wall for the Bingham Plastic.
