Abstract

The removal of the bulk liquor surrounding the pulp fibers using less concentrated liquor is known as pulp washing. This study focuses on solution of mathematical model related to diffusion-dispersion via separation of variables and Laplace transform. The solute is assumed to be uniformly distributed throughout the packed bed. Before solving, model is converted into dimensionless form by using Peclet number, dimensionless concentration, dimensionless time and dimensionless thickness. Numerical values of the exit solute concentration are found out for a wide range of Peclet numbers.
