Abstract

Effects of wall curvature on steady separation phenomena are examined by exact analysis for Stokes flow between eccentric cylinders. Curvature alone, convex or concave, determines nothing in the stagnation regions for all features depend upon the total flow field, including the angle of departure of the separation streamline. However, the angular relationships among the curves streamfunction Ψ=0, vorticity ζ=0, and along-wall velocity component vβ=0 at the stagnation point are universal. They are valid for all Reynolds number, internal or external laminar flow.
