Abstract

Foreign language reading anxiety has direct effects on reading achievement by affecting psychology and recognition of learners. Therefore, for effective Chinese reading education, it is required certainly the process to predict the level of anxiety of learners and to control this properly. This study was designed to comprehend the factor to occur the anxiety of Korean College Students in Chinese Reading and to investigate the relation between the level of anxiety and learner variables. First of all, by using FLRAS of Saito, Horwitz & Garza, it was carried out the questionnaire research targeting 112 students of W University. And students were classified into high and low level of students according to the level of reading anxiety and it was carried out correlation analysis between the level of anxiety and learner variables and analyze factors to occur anxiety per the level of anxiety by using SPSS 19.0. As a result of the study, students with high and low level of anxiety had a little difference of factor to occur reading anxiety. And it was revealed that the level of reading anxiety had correlation with characteristics such as gender of learners, major related to Chinese language, acquiring HSK qualification, and experiences to study abroad etc. Last, on the basis of the above-mentioned study results, it was presented the education plan related to education to read Chinese language targeting Korean learners. It is expected that the results of this study would help to develop Chinese reading education for Koreans in the future.
