Abstract

Objective To know the prevalence and its risk factors of the anxiety related emotional disorders in old patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods 156 old patients with type 2 diabetes were inspected about the general information and the metabolism indexes. The mental states and the related spirit factors that influencing the disease changes were surveyed with the questionnaire. The anxiety status of subjects was evaluated with SAS (the self-rating anxiety scale). The relationship between the anxiety related emotional disorders of old patients with type 2 diatbetes and the influencing factors was analyzed with the Logistic regression model. Results 48 cases of this group had the anxiety related emotional disorders, accounting for 30. 8%. The single factor analysis found that the smoking history, HbAlc, the pathological changes of eyeground, the family history, the number of complications, the worry about not effecting a redical cure, the worry about resulting in comphcations, the uncomfortableness resulting from controlling diet, the worry about depending on insulin forevermore were the risk factors of anxiety related emotional disorders in this group. The results of multiple factor analysis showed that HbAlc, the pathological changes of eyeground, the number of complications and the worry about depending on insulin forevermore had obviously statistical relation with the anxiety related emotional disorders of old patients with type 2 diatbetes. Conclusions The prevalence rate of anxiety related emotional disorders is higher in old patients with type 2 diatbetes. The mental therapy should be regared as the part of clinical therapy in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. Key words: The aged; Diabetes meUitns, type 2; Anxiety; Risk factors
