Abstract

Climate change is a global issue and has received widespread attention from the international community. Climate change increases the frequency and intensity of extreme events, though many mitigation measures are taken, the impact of climate change will still continue. As key infrastructures, water conservancy projects such as reservoirs and dams must be properly managed in the process of sustainability and change. Therefore, the design, construction management and operation dispatch of water conservancy projects must fully consider the impact of climate change, and adopt effective measures to ensure the operation safety. To understand the impact of climate change on the water conservancy project safety properly, the influence on the water conservancy project design by climate change is first analyzed, and the impact of the extreme temperature on the reservoir dam and the impact of the rising sea level on the coastal seashore projects are later analyzed, respectively, which are explained by presenting engineering cases. The analysis results indicate that the impact of climate change on the water conservancy project safety is characterized by the suddenness, uncertainty and serious consequences, which should be paid more attention to effectively reduce the losses. The corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are put forward eventually.
